I’m reminded reading this of the scenes in de Beauvoir’s novel <> where the main character expresses total frustration with peeling vegetables. It’s part of the book’s feminist epiphany, second wave style. But it still feels contemporary. It strikes me we have a long way to go to flesh out alternative masculine identities and ways of taking responsibility for ecological inequalities–even in the “experimental” conditions of campus and community gardens. Thanks for writing this piece and I look forward to finding more of your writing out there.
